Your Support Helps Scholarship Students

This Giving Tuesday, we’re celebrating this global day of giving by sharing a story about one of our scholarship recipients, Sarah Rosario.

Because of donors like you, we support New River Valley students like Sarah, a Virginia Tech senior studying psychology with a minor in peace studies and social justiceThis year, Sarah was one of 99 students who received a scholarship from the Community Foundation.

The Fund for the NRV is the engine that fuels all our work at the Foundation, including supporting our scholarship program. A donation to this fund helps us continue to reach more students like Sarah. If you’ve already made a donation to our year-end campaign, thank you so much. If you haven’t yet, we’d appreciate if you could chip in to help us reach our $35,000 goal.

Sarah attended Blacksburg High School and both her parents work at Virginia Tech. When it came time to choose a school, she decided to stay close to home and study at VT. For each of the last three years, Sarah has received a scholarship from the Community Foundation, with each scholarship coming from a different fund set up by donors.

Sarah plans to graduate from college a year early, in part due to the support she received from the Community Foundation. After graduation, she plans to go to law school. To learn more about Sarah, click the above video to hear from her.

Connecting with students like Sarah is such a meaningful part of our work. Thank you for supporting our work and students from across the New River Valley.
