October 15, 2020 – Jeff Dinger with Giles FOCUS, Tina King, Executive Director of NRV Agency on Aging, Kim Thomason, Western Regional Manager for Child Care Aware and Dr. Robin Lemaire, Associate Professor, Virginia Tech Center for Public Administration and Policy on engagement and collaboration in a virtual setting.
September 17, 2020 – Laureen Blakemore of the YMCA at VT, Karen Jones of Radford-Fairlawn Daily Bread, and Linda Jilk of Literacy Volunteers of the NRV speak on recruiting and retaining volunteers during COVID.
This session focused on nonprofit monitoring and evaluation, including logic models, key performance indicators, and good data management. It covered how measuring nonprofits’ programs and goals help nonprofits stay on their mission track without being overburdening.
This workshop covered how to research grant opportunities, what your organization must have in place before writing a grant, the primary components of a grant proposal, and how to communicate with prospective funders.
This workshop covered the roles and responsibilities of the board, tools for effective board meetings and decision making, and how to build a board with the right talent, varied experiences, and community representation.
This session covered why a strategic plan is important, the basic components of a strategic plan, the planning process, some practical tools to support your process, and tips for keeping your plan off the shelf.
