Launch Something Pulaski Spurs New Business

In 2015, the CFNRV awarded a $4,000 grant to Beans and Rice, Inc. to support Launch Something Pulaski, a downtown economic revitalization project aimed at supporting new business formation and expansion in the Town of Pulaski. Recently, five business leaders received $45,000 in cash prizes to launch their businesses by September 30, 2016.

Old Prices Fork School Revitalization Projects Receives $3 million in Grant Support

The transformation of the Old Prices Fork School brings together diverse community partners to support affordable housing, economic development and local food access for residents of the New River Valley.  This spring the project was awarded $2.5 million from the Vibrant Communities Initiative through the State of Virginia Department of Housing and Community Development and a $500,000 grant from the Appalachian Regional Commission.

The CFNRV's Aging in Place Initiative was honored this week as one of only ten nationwide recipients of the 2016 HUD Secretary’s Award for Public Philanthropic-Partnerships. Cosponsored by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and the Council on Foundations, the award recognizes foundations for their efforts to improve communities through partnership with local, state, and federal governments. 

CFNRV Hosts 3rd Annual GiveBigNRV Giving Day April 20th

The CFNRV will host the 3rd Annual GiveBigNRV Giving Day on Wednesday, April 20, 2016. GiveBigNRV ( is a central community giving website where individuals can give online securely and directly to over 90 nonprofit organizations serving the New River Valley, or to any of the 160 charitable endowments managed by the CFNRV, including the new Fund for the NRV, focused on regional collaboration for long-term impact.
