Thursday, June 16 is our next virtual Third Thursday session! This month, we’ll be engaging in a conversation about Juneteenth, the holiday that celebrates June 19, 1865, the day that enslaved Black people in Texas learned slavery had been abolished.

Join our guest speakers to learn about Juneteenth’s historical significance as well as the ways in which NRV organizations are both celebrating this date and African American history and culture in our region year-round.

This month’s guest speakers are: Mickey Hickman, Board President, the Calfee Community and Cultural Center; Chris Sanchez, Executive Director, Christiansburg Institute; and Andrae Hash, Development Director, Christiansburg Institute.
