First Steps is a network of early childhood educators and social service providers in the NRV working to strengthen connections in support of children and families. To share information about our respective programs, we’ve been holding information sessions open to any individuals or organizations who serve young children and their caregivers. This November 6th session is open to all service providers, but specifically offers information and  professional development/re-certification credit for public school teachers and support staff working with young children across the NRV.

This free session will include:

  • Light breakfast and networking beginning at 8:30am
  • Short “Lightning Round” talks from NRV organizations working in:
    • Trauma-Informed Care and Prevention
      • NRV Community Services
      • NRV CARES
    • Health and Wellness
      • VA Foundation for Healthy Youth
    • Region-wide Early Childhood Care and Quality
      • VA Quality
      • Smart Beginnings NRV
    • Enrichment Activities
      • Regional Libraries
      • Children’s Museum of Blacksburg
  • Table conversation with speakers and colleagues

This is a great opportunity to learn about other agencies and the resources available to you. Public and private school teachers working with Pre-K through 2nd grade students, healthcare professionals, social service providers, and more are encouraged to attend.
