Housing in the New River Valley – Session 2, The NRV Housing Resource Guide
May 25, 2021 @ 9:00 am - 10:00 am
One of the four central themes of the NRV Livability Plan is Enhancing Living and Working Environments with goals and strategies to address housing, energy, and transportation issues and affordability across all ages and income levels. Since the plan’s release in 2014, housing has only become more important, affecting every resident and impacting both economic and community development.
As a follow-up to the Annual Livability in Action Exchange, the NRV Livability Initiative will hold issue-specific events, beginning with housing. The first session on April 27th focuses on the Regional & Local Housing Study while the second on May 25th focuses on the NRV Housing Resource Guide. The NRV HOME Consortium, together with more than a dozen partners, has recently updated two resource documents with 1) information on the location of affordable and/or accessible rental housing and 2) a wide range of housing and human service providers in the region. The Housing Resource Guide is now available as an online searchable database, and the Affordable Housing Rental guide will also be available online through a partnership with Virginia Housing. This session will provide an overview of both resource documents, followed by questions and discussion.
