Community Foundation Welcomes Lindsey Gleason as Assistant Director

The Community Foundation of the New River Valley (CFNRV) is pleased to welcome Lindsey Gleason as its new Assistant Director. In this role, she will manage all marketing and communications for the CFNRV, spearhead the annual GiveLocalNRV Online Giving Day, and coordinate nonprofit leadership programs, including the Third Thursday Society and virtual Nonprofit Listening Sessions.

Prior to joining the CFNRV, Gleason worked for Virginia Tech for nearly nine years with Student Affairs Advancement and VT Engage: The Center for Leadership and Service Learning. During her time at Virginia Tech, her work focused on communications, marketing, fundraising, and community engagement.

“I had the pleasure of working with Lindsey during her time at VT Engage and through her volunteer work with groups like NRV Leading Lights,” said Jessica Wirgau, Chief Executive Officer of the CFNRV. “I have long admired her ability to work collaboratively with so many different individuals, and her clear love for this community. Those attributes combined with her long experience in communications and fundraising makes her an ideal person to join our team.”

Gleason also has experience in nonprofit fundraising and event management as well as training in the areas of social justice, inclusion, and accessibility. Originally from Vermont, she graduated from Northeastern University in Boston with a degree in international affairs and a minor in linguistics.

“I’m thrilled to join an organization that cares so much about the incredible community we live in,” said Gleason. “The foundation’s collaborative approach to partnering with communities aligns with my values and interests. I look forward to working with organizations across the New River Valley and finding ways to uplift each other’s work.”

In her first weeks on the job, Gleason is focused on the upcoming GiveLocalNRV Giving Day set for Wednesday, June 22nd. So far, more than 80 nonprofits have registered to participate in this year’s event, and more can join before the registration deadline on Wednesday, May 25th. During the event, participating nonprofits raise money for their organizations and can earn additional grants and prizes from the CFNRV.
